not previously seen in the other camera like many other later Nikon models it doesn’t have an optical low-pass filter.

Camera Body

Nikon D850 is made around a magnesium alloy chassis for strength and rigidity on the top left there is a release mode dial that houses four buttons on the top white balance quality metering and mode button.

towards the right and info screen identical to that on Nikon Z7 a video recording button iso exposure compensation and a shutter release button around which we have an on and off switch moving.

Towards the back there is a protection button on the left that protects your photographs from accidental deletion and next to it is a dedicated trash button above the screen.

There is Nikon’s signature circular eyepiece a display button and a switch to shift from still to movie mode or vice versa slightly on the right there is AF on the button which has the same effect as pressing the shutter release button halfway.

And on the extreme right there is a command dial below that we can see the joystick info button a directional pad zoom in zoom out the menu and the media playback button lastly, below the screen, there is a mic and record button quality white balance and an info button.

There is external hdmi usb microphone and headphone outputs while on the right there is slots for SD card and XQD.

When you take the camera in your hands you will every inch of the body as roofed in buttons dials or connector ports with sufficient dedicated controls to vary every key shooting setting without having to access the menus.

in terms of button layout, there are a couple of nice touches for instance.

there’s a replacement joystick that falls naturally under your thumb for shifting the main target point around the frame on the fly.

it’s fully sealed against moisture dust and dirt there’s no pop-up flash.
