I am going to make a comparison between these two cameras I’m going to talk about the BMPCC 6K VS Sony A7S III and how they compare each other I’m not going to focus on qualities that both have. Because I know that many of you want to know what things those cameras does.
So, both cameras are quite compact and lightweight but one of the big reasons I love the Sony A7S III is the autofocus system because for me personally, sony has brilliant and one of the few systems that work well.
A7S III has a touchscreen that works well and a small thing I’m missing on the a7s iii is the 180 degree shutter setting. It can get you into a lot of trouble if you quickly switch between frame rates and there is still an annoying issue.
Table of Contents
Body
6K pro has a microphone input and a headphone output also has a full-size HDMI output, a USB type c connector, a 12-volt power connector, an sd card reader, and a cep has a card reader.
Pocket 6K has two audio ports and one of them is a mini XLR with phantom power in comparison the A7S III has one audio input.
Menu
The menu on the Pocket 6K it’s just the way up you can navigate quickly, and enable lots or false colors on the playback punch in to check focus whereas on the Sony A7S III it’s not to be so great you can not scrub through the clip and go through them quickly it will take me a long time to find a specific position.
Screen
6K pro has a touch screen that can be tilted which you can put a new grip the touch screen is responsive you can easily enable tools like zebras peaking false color and even luts. You can enable different overlays it’s almost as good as on the pocket 6k.
the 6k screen is just big enough to make it usable in certain situations the sony screen is at least too small and a big difference here is that the 6k screen can not move at all, and of course, the ability to record directly to ssds gives the 6K another advantage.
Batteries
The pocket’s 6k battery life I found to be terrible it lasts like 30-40 minutes on one charge so for me pocket is not a camera for long days of shooting handheld.
the A7S IIi has a much better battery life you can get through a full day of shooting on two or maybe three batteries and it can be rigged much lighter.
ISO
both cameras have dual iso on the A7S III is 80-102400 Expand to 40-409600 and on the Pocket 6K it is 100 to 25,600 which sounds insane.
Sensor
6K pro offers a super 35mm sensor that will allow you to capture video with a maximum resolution of 6K, a native dual-use system with values between 400 and 3200, and the possibility of recording in raw format.
in a raw format makes the whole editing process even more comfortable than it was before in the first place because its application with da Vinci resolve is very well optimized that allows you to work with high-quality material in equipment.
In comparison with Sony A7S III features the same 35mm sensor, 5-axis mechanical stabilization system has a resolution of 12.1 megapixels, a very high iso up to 409 1600.
