Blackmagic Pocket 6K vs 6K pro

I’m going to talk about the Blackmagic Pocket 6K vs 6K Pro so if you are a filmmaker I will share why you should consider buying one of those cameras. This is a full technical review of the physical key differences between these cameras.

There are not many differences between those cameras they have the same super 35 sensor which is very good, especially in terms of calorimetry they have very similar sizes and very similar weights.

Many photographers will compare those cameras with other cinema cameras but I will say they’re identical, the image, the color the skin tones are just amazing parts.

Body

6K Pro has the same configuration, the same layout as the 6K, and the order of the buttons which makes it an effortless camera to use.

There is a button to access the configuration of the iso parameter and also the white balance there is a button to take a snapshot, and on the back, there are different buttons that allow accessing the menu to control the diaphragm and some other additional options.

there is a second mini xlr port that is appearing on the 6K pro which allows you to connect two microphones at the same time and having two is a real advantage

there is a new type of connector that makes the grip much lower and less bulky, therefore, easier to transport which allows you to keep a battery in the camera permanently.

Viewfinder

Blackmagic Pocket 6K vs 6K pro 1

Pocket 6K pro has a small viewfinder and VF on the top so we have a camera that is more muscular bigger and heavier than the 6K.

Screen

Pocket 6K pro has a tilting screen which goes at 90 degrees upwards and about 35 degrees down and makes this camera a real plus compared to the oldest version 6K which did not have this tilting screen and what I realized is that the screen on the 6K pro is brighter than that of the 6K.

the Blackmagic 6K Pro on the other hand has a 5-inch screen that is attached to the camera body that can also tilt up and down this is a huge improvement over the previous pocket cameras where it was just a fixed screen at the back of the camera and the touchscreen is actually super responsive.

With the use of this tiltable screen, you will be able to record shots with different angles in a way much more comfortable than what you could do before with 6K.

And without a doubt, working with this screen is very comfortable than the viewfinder that has also been introduced in this new version it is one of the best screens that you had used in a camera before.

So, for me, it’s more practical having this screen for making shots low and high without having to use an external screen and having a screen that tilts like this is really a real plus.

Sensor

So the Pocket 6K Pro still brings many interesting new features this super sensor 35 offers 6K natively and has a Canon EF mount like on the 6K.

The color rendering on this sensor is really great which allows having precise skin tones and faithful colors whereas the Pocket 6K sensor was already very good and is still very good in terms of colorimetry.

Blackmagic cameras have a great operating system it’s so easy to use everything is at your fingertips there are nice function buttons for slow-motion at 180 degrees you don’t have to change your shutter speed it does it automatically.

6k vs 6k pro

6K vs 6K Pro Image Quality

in terms of quality, the image is practically on par with 6K and there are small differences and minor improvements that make it a much better camera even you can compare it with other cameras like the Sony or Canon I think the image even is comparable to an Alexa Mini.

the image quality of the 6K pro and the color correction system which was introduced with that ND filter system with that folding screen make a highly recommended camera for any user who is looking for the highest possible image quality.

Batteries differences

Pocket 6K pro has new batteries with a new flu system than the 6K the batteries on the 6K Pro offer greater performance, and a greater capacity to record for a longer time, without having to carry a V mount type external battery.

6k vs 6k pro batteries

Weight

Pocket 6K is 900 grams and we have about 1,250 kg on the 6K pro its more than 300g of difference. So, this weight gain can be seen as an advantage for some of you it’s true having a bigger camera it’s a camera that is better held in hand but a bigger camera will take up more space, and sometimes you should put it on a stabilizer.

the 6K pro in the hands is much heavier than the 6K it has a ventilation system it has a mechanism that did not exist on the 6K version to a mechanism that allows the screen to be tilted.

6K vs 6K pro Price Diference

The price is super affordable you literally can’t go wrong with those cameras the fact that they are $2000 and $2500 and you got pretty much everything.

the 6K is $2000 and the 6K Pro is $2500 the difference between those cameras is the 6K Pro has got internal ND filters and better battery life than you can get it with an EVF.

the 6K pro which was relatively recently released in 2021 and displayed at more than $2500 offers an integrated filter for only $2500 and is fairly unique.

Why You Should Buy pocket 6K Pro Over Pocket 6K?

the 6K Pro is all of that camera and so much more internal ND filters professional XLR ports great autofocus incredible battery life professional exposure tools like false color and let’s not forget the fact that it shoots internal 4K Raw to SD cards.

Wrapping Up

Why I think you should consider buying one of those cameras is not just because of the price first the image is so beautiful it looks good and it just has so much flexibility in post with 12-bit raw.

it’s a video camera number one I mean for me I can say that will be number one for you. They are number one in this price the best and easiest to use operating system super easy to use.

Conclusion

So my conclusion about those cameras 4K, 6K, or 6K Pro has been really beneficial cameras. The screens on the Pocket 4K, 6K, and 6K Pro are amazing but the 6K and 4K are just a step below, and they don’t offer a tilting feature but the 6K Pro has a tilting screen.

So, I want to give you my conclusion about those cameras the developments by the 6k pro are really very significant compared to the basic 6k.

it’s only 1.3 million pixels more than enough to make its frame, especially since we have this beautiful 5-inch rear screen autofocus is very good on this type of camera. So, if you need powerful autofocus in a lot of other situations this camera will do the job.

There is no sensor stabilization system in this camera in general cinema cameras do not have a stabilized sensor.
